Planning your park visit
Does this directory show every park in Richmond Hill?
It includes all 482 records returned by the stated official land layer, arranged into 401 sections. It is complete for that source scope. Land parcels, school grounds and open spaces are not the same as currently open visitor parks.
Why can one park have several source IDs?
A park can contain several mapped parcels. Parcels with the same recorded name and location share a section. Every original source ID is retained, so repeated land records are not silently dropped.
Do the map points show park entrances?
No. The coordinates are calculated from the mapped land boundaries and show an approximate land centre. Use the recorded address where available, and confirm the entrance before travelling.
Does a mapped park have confirmed washrooms and parking?
Not necessarily. This land inventory does not verify visitor facilities, accessible entrances or current washroom opening. A missing fact means it has not been verified, rather than that the facility does not exist.
When are Richmond Hill city parks open?
The city states daily park visiting hours of 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Follow any local closure notices.

When does a group need a park permit?

Can I bring a barbecue?
Charcoal barbecues and barbecues on tables are prohibited. A1 lb propane cylinder may be used, with the barbecue 10 m from facilities and homes. Larger cylinders need a permit. Lake Wilcox Park prohibits barbecues.

Can my dog run free?

Which trails have accessibility information?
The city lists 12 recreational trails and park routes in AccessNow, including Saigeon Trail, Trans Richmond Trail, Mill Pond Park, Richmond Green Park and David Dunlap Observatory Park. The app records surfaces, slopes, access points and amenities.

How should walkers and cyclists share trails?
Keep right except when passing. Cyclists should slow down, give a clear signal and leave time for others to respond. Keep dog leashes short. Winter ice and snow can make trails slippery.
