The full comparison below includes 14 lit and 13 unlit city-table locations. Court counts are site counts, not the number always available to casual play. At David Hamilton, club use and an indoor winter season restrict access.

Bring your own tennis equipment and footwear suited to the court and weather. During busy periods, public play rotates at the top of each hour. Arriving late in the hour does not reset the rotation clock.

Which courts can be reserved

The 2026 booking program lists Mount Pleasant courts 3 and 4, Headwaters court 3, and Russell Farm courts 3 and 4. Other courts at those sites remain drop-in. A vacant permit court can be used until a booked holder’s start time.

Residents can reserve two weeks ahead and non-residents one week ahead through ActiveRH’s Facility Availability section. Booked blocks are one hour. Carry the paper permit or confirmation email, as officers or other players may ask to see it.

Restrictions and David Hamilton exceptions

Court permits are non-refundable, including for bad weather. Commercial use and coaching on public courts are prohibited. Ball machines cannot be used after 5 p.m.; earlier use must not distract other players.

David Hamilton’s outdoor public hours from May 1 to September 30 are Tuesday 7-10 p.m., Saturday 4-7 p.m. and Sunday noon-3 p.m., with three courts listed for Sunday. The city table says four courts, while a club passage mentions six; this guide preserves the table count and records the conflict. October 1 to April 30 is the indoor club season.
