Location: Etobicoke, Ontario
Work arrangement: Hybrid, three days onsite weekly
Salary: Base, plus up to a 10% bonus opportunity
Build your writing career with a family-owned company whose products help shape outdoor spaces across Canada and the U.S. Unilock is looking for an experienced in-house SEO writer to join its established marketing team, with a clear focus on article production and a package that includes a bonus opportunity and paid December holiday closure.
Consistently delivering 8–12 SEO articles each month, typically 500–1,500 words each, is the highest priority for this role. You’ll cover hardscape products, outdoor spaces, installation topics and industry insights for homeowners, contractors and commercial audiences.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, you’ll join a marketing team of approximately 22 people. You’ll lead writing projects from brief to delivery, manage timelines, negotiate priorities and build internal agreement across product, creative, web and regional teams.
What you will do
- Research, write and edit 8–12 SEO articles monthly.
- Turn technical information and subject matter expert insights into useful, engaging content.
- Apply SEO best practices while maintaining accuracy, readability and a consistent brand voice.
- Manage deadlines, gather feedback and move articles through review and approval.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve feedback and keep work moving.
- Support other website, product and marketing copy as priorities allow.
- Own writing projects from briefing and research through stakeholder alignment, approvals and delivery. Negotiate priorities, consolidate conflicting feedback and keep internal teams aligned.
What you bring
- 5–7 years of in-house SEO content writing experience within the hardscape or building materials industry.
- A portfolio of substantive long-form SEO articles demonstrating strong research, structure and editing. Short product descriptions or ecommerce copy alone are not sufficient.
- Experience producing SEO content and an understanding of how to measure its performance.
- A proven track record of personally delivering a high volume of SEO articles to deadline while maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and a careful approach to factual accuracy.
- Proven ability to project manage writing assignments, negotiate priorities and lead internal alignment across stakeholders.
- A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
Industry experience is a bonus, including a strong understanding of hardscape or building materials products, terminology and audiences.
This role suits someone who enjoys hands-on writing and wants to build deep product and industry knowledge as an individual contributor.
