Details
The King Center on Global Development’s Postdoctoral Fellows Program offers fellowships to outstanding new PhD recipients who have a demonstrated ability to generate high-quality, policy-relevant research on critical issues related to global development.
The program is intended for promising new PhD recipients - coming from fields such as computer science, earth systems science, economics, engineering, health policy, political science, and sociology - to pursue policy-relevant research on topics related to international development and poverty alleviation. Postdoctoral fellows should expect to be active members of the community of development researchers at Stanford University, and within the King Center as mentors to students in our programs.
The center offers postdoctoral fellowships in specific focus areas, mentored by faculty members within a Research Hub. You will be asked to select one Research Hub in your application and then identify the faculty member in the hub who would be best-placed to serve as your faculty mentor, should you be selected as a King Center Postdoctoral Fellow.
The King Center’s Postdoctoral Fellows Program particularly encourages applications from scholars from low- and middle-income countries, as well as from others whose perspectives and lived experiences would enrich the breadth, inclusivity, and perspectives within academia or their field of study. Applications from candidates of all backgrounds are welcome.
Ideal candidates will have a demonstrated track record of research in LMICs.
The King Center provides a competitive fellowship stipend, plus support for travel and research expenses.
Qualifications
Housing, Global Health, and Climate Resilience
This interdisciplinary hub brings together faculty in epidemiology, infectious diseases, and civil and environmental engineering to study how housing can protect health and build climate resilience in LMICs. Hub researchers are currently working on projects spanning housing interventions and child health, climate adaptation in urban, rural, and informal settlements, and the influence of building design on occupant well-being.
The postdoctoral fellow will apply causal inference methods to identify effective housing-related interventions that improve health and climate adaptation, and to help develop new cross-disciplinary studies on climate-adaptive, healthy housing.
